Analysis
• 50 consecutive patients treated with contained herniated disc or focal protrusion treated with Nucleoplasty procedure.
• 20 patients in control group treated with conservative care.
• Nucleoplasty group showed complete resolution of symptoms in 80 percent of patients.

Outcome
• Complete resolution of symptoms in 80 percent of patients in Nucleoplasty group.

Safe low risk procedure causing minimal discomfort to patients.

Analysis
• Aim: to assess feasibility, safety and preliminary clinical results.
• 55 patients with radicular pain (3 with mild myelopathy) treated over a 29 month period.
• Good or excellent results in 80% of patients at 2 months, and 85 % of patients at 6 months.
• Most cases performed under local anesthesia on an out patient basis.
• One clinical complication, infectious discitis, treated successfully.
• One technical complication, rupture of device tip, patient remained asymptomatic at 2 year
follow-up.

Outcome
• Procedure is minimally invasive, low risk, easy to perform.
• Minimal discomfort to patient and effective in short term.
